Len HartLenard Hart - Chair - Greenovations

Lenard Hart has been a leader in the Green Building industry for over 10 years. He ran the Ontario’s R-2000 and EnerGuide for New Houses, and ENERGY STAR for New Homes programs while at EnerQuality. Since then, he has worked with builders, retailers, manufactures, and all levels of governments to offer greener choices to consumers. Lenard was a member of the LEED Canada for Homes core committee, and he chaired the marketing subcommittee for the program’s launch.

His company Greenovations develops and promotes industry leading green programs and green projects, including collaborating with Rodeo Fine Homes to put together Canada’s first LEED Platinum housing development. He is currently working with GreenSaver to manage and promote the Ontario Power Authority’s Multi-family Energy Efficiency Rebate program.

Larry BrydonLarry Brydon, LEED AP - Vice Chair - Reliance Home Comfort

Mr. Brydon is currently a Senior Account Representative with Reliance Home Comfort where he supports New Product Development projects within their Builder Markets Group.  He is both a LEED Accredited Professional, and an NRCan Certified Energy Evaluator with the EnergyStar and Energuide programs. In addition to his role with Sustainable Buildings Canada, he also serves as Chair of the Canada Green Building Council - Greater Toronto Chapter and is a Board Director for BILD, the Building Industry and Land Development Associations ( formerly Greater Toronto Home Builders Association and The Urban Development Institute).

Mr. Brydon is a regular stakeholder representative for many of the Provincial and Crown Corporation organizations including NRCan, Industry Canada, CMHC and the OPA.  He is currently an appointee to the Provincial Ministry of Energy and Infrastructures' Solar Thermal Task Force. His volunteer Committee work roles include Chair of the energy subcommittee for the Canadian LEED for Neighborhood Development green building standard, Co Chair of BILD’s Green Committee, and the policy and procedures and technical committees for the Ontario EnergyStar and Energuide for Houses program.

Bob BachH.R. (Bob) BACH, P. Eng. - Energy Profiles Ltd. - Treasurer

Bob Bach is a Senior Associate with Energy Profiles Limited, located in Toronto, Ontario, where his responsibilities include energy codes and standards; utility demand side management program development, delivery and evaluation; green building energy and environmental design programs and assessments; energy and water conservation technology transfer; building energy monitoring and analysis; and municipal energy and water efficiency programs.

Bob has facilitated a number of workshop sessions for a variety of clients including Enbridge Gas Distribution, Union Gas, Sustainable Buildings Canada (SBC), and Nova Scotia Department of Energy. These sessions focussed on improving the energy efficiency of buildings, either for specific new or existing projects (SBC),  understanding and using energy codes to improve overall energy efficiency and to exceed the minimum requirements (Enbridge and Union), or determining the collective opinion of a stakeholder group on changes to the building code to set minimum energy efficiency standards (NSDoE).  In every case, the purpose of the facilitation was to encourage members of the group to engage in productive discussion, ensure that these stayed on topic, and to provide an opportunity for everyone present to make a contribution.

Bob is a founding and current director and treasurer of SBC, past president of the Toronto Chapter of ASHRAE, and was a director and Chairman of the Contractor’s Division of the Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada.

Arlene GouldArlene Gould, MBA R.G.D. FRSA - York University

Arlene Gould is a design educator, researcher and consultant who has been championing the value of design to the academic, business and social community for over twenty years. She is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at York University where she conducts cross-disciplinary research and teaches courses in Design for Sustainability and Design Management. Arlene is the Strategic Director for Ontario's Design Industry Advisory Committee, a member of the Executive Board for Sustainable Buildings Canada, and an International Fellow of the RSA, London, UK.

Jiri SkopekJiri Skopek - Founder, Green Globes

Jiri Skopek is an architect, planner and environmental consultant, responsible for the continued development and management of the Green Globes™ environmental assessment and rating system for the United States and Canada.  The Green Globes environmental assessment tools include modules that have now been adopted and promoted by various organizations such as The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Green Building Initiative (GBI) and Continental Automated Building Association (CABA).  As technical advisor to GBI, he lectures extensively throughout the USA on sustainable development in the fields of design and asset and facility management. 

Notably, he was a founding participant in Solar Research and Development at Milton Keynes Development Corporation, in England, and designed the first active solar house in the U.K.  He was a winner in CMHC/CANMET Multi-residential “IDEAS” competition and the CMHC Healthy Housing Competition. 

As a planner, he has been involved in many international sustainable community activities and was a Planning Consultant to the governments of the Sultanate of Oman and Qatar on community development and government land use policies. In Saudi Arabia, he designed the new town of Jizan and was the Chief Urban Designer for the new Campus of King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah.  He was also responsible for Land Use Control and Urban Design in Downtown Edmonton and has contributed to Toronto’s skyline as senior designer with Bregman and Hamann Architects, and Master Planner for the BCE complex.  In Paris, he ran the office of well known Architect-Engineer, Santiago Calatrava.

Scott BullockScott Bullock  - Enbridge Gas Distribution

Scott has over 20 years experience in the construction project management sector where he has managed office build-outs in various industries including financial institutions and public sector organizations.  His strong negotiation and project management skills have been obtained through the management of various large scale relocation projects.  Since joining Enbridge, Scott has successfully managed the Design Assistance and New Building Construction incentive programs in the Business Markets department.  His portfolio has recently been expanded to assist in the sales and marketing of the OPA's High Performance New Construction incentive program being managed by Enbridge Gas.

Wayne DawsonWayne Dawson - WAD Consulting

Wayne Dawson is a leader with over 30 years of business executive experience. He has been at the forefront of identifying and integrating societal trends such as sustainable development into business/industry plans & actions, through cause marketing and other creative strategies.

In his executive capacities, Wayne has gained extensive knowledge and experience in sustainability/restorability issues in the construction industry. This broad based knowledge includes life cycle modeling, building/rating systems & alternative energy. He also has significant expertise in public affairs at both the senior bureaucratic and political levels, in cause/social marketing and in industry-related university research.

Wayne currently sits on the Board of Sustainable Buildings Canada, provides senior advice to the Revitalization Institute at Seneca College, and Chairs the Fundraising Committee as part of his Foundation Board position with Planet in Focus (an International Environmental Film Festival based in Toronto). He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Centre of Pavement and Transportation Technology at the University of Waterloo and participated in several committees providing leadership in the construction industry.

Tom PonessaTom Ponessa, M.Arch - Delcan - Director of Programs

Tom has been involved in sustainable design for 15 years. He is the Integration Manager for Sustainable Design with Delcan and Sustainable Buildings Canada’s Director of Programs and has been responsible for the annual Toronto Regional Green Building Festival and its secretariat since its inception. Tom has enjoyed developing content for the festival and is grateful for the highly positive feedback from many of Canada’s leaders in sustainable design. He has managed and occasionally facilitated many of SBC’s Integrated Design process charrettes including Regent Park, Cornwall PEI Town Hall, BMO Stadium, Rogers Centre and Green Phoenix affordable housing. At the Design Exchange he initiated and ran programming around sustainable design and worked on two committees for Milton’s Eco-Tech Village. Tom has acted as an awards judge for the Ontario Home Builders, R-2000 and the Cement Association of Canada. In 1992 he developed and promoted a prototypical sustainable home for a northern climate conceived as a complete system integrating situation, landscaping, energy, materials, waste and water. Tom has degrees in Architecture (Dalhousie) and Urban Geography (Toronto).

Mike SingletonMike Singleton - SeeLine Group - Executive Director

As Executive Director of Sustainable Buildings Canada (SBC) and Principal of the SeeLine Group Ltd., Mike Singleton has more than 20 years experience as an energy economist focused on energy policy and resource planning. In his role as Executive Director of SBC, Mike is focused on building capacity through the use of hands-on activities including Design Charrettes aimed at demonstrating the potential to improve building designs and operations through the integrated design process.
